Tonight's episode had a little bit of everything, as a matter of fact, most of the current storylines were displayed on 'The Silence She Keeps', Mariana's dancing team, Jesus' desire to go to a boarding school, Brandon's father issues & summer plans, Daphne's criminal case for kidnapping her own daughter, Girls United revival, Mike & Ana's living arrangement, Callie's fate, Anchor's Beach versus Timothy, Jude's feelings towards Callie's departure. Usually, what makes The Fosters entertaining is the constant character development, sadly, today was not that kind of day, because it felt messy & not as organic as it normally is. The core of the episode was Callie & instead of exploring the reactions of every family member, they continued showing us their current own struggles . I was so displeased to see that, for the very first time i wasn't interested in what the others were doing, it all felt like an episode filler.
Callie's journey to be part of a family is finally coming to an end, she's pretty much certain about her future with the Quinns, specifically with his biological father, Robert. She acknowledged the fact that Robert truly loves her & wants a role in her life. I'm so happy that she made up her mind, but I really hope that she's making that life-changing decision for the right reasons & not for being able to be in a relationship with Brandon.
On the other hand, Mike was given a wake-up call from Brandon, regarding his silly need for starting a new family, he had to know that he already has a family of his own & should care to reconnect with them. It's worth mentioning that Ana decided to move out from his place.
Jude's concern for Callie's well-being is just sweet, he cares about her & that's why he searches for Robert, in order to make him aware of his feelings towards her leaving the Fosters family. Mr. Quinn made him feel safe, because he'll allow visitation to the fosters whenever Callie wants. Also, he introduced Callie & Jude to the new Girls United.
On the whole, Rita's appearance was vital for the episode, she gave Callie advice about her decision to be part of the Quinns & told Steph what she needed to hear: "He's her biological father" . At last, Daphne turned down every possible salvation option she had & confessed to the cops what she did that night, excluding Callie & Brandon's involvement.
The verdict from 'The Silence She Keeps' reflects the impact it had on me as a viewer, as well as plot-related issues.
